A native of Hampshire, Ill., he had been a resident of the Chattanooga area most of his life and was a member of West Cleveland Baptist Church.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, and was retired from Southern Railway.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille Samuelson.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Samuelson; daughter, Joyce Ann (Louis) Wilson of Cleveland; son, Robert F. (Nickie) Samuelson of Cleveland; three stepsons: Robert (Lisa) Wilson of Atlanta, Louis Wilson of Cleveland, and Melvin Wilson; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011, in Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. Arris Cavender officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
