Clyde E. Swallows, 81, a resident of a Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011, in a local hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was a local businessman and farmer, and his hobbies included music, fishing, hunting and wagon training.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Erby and Annie Swallows; brothers: Charles, Luther, George, Bill and Ralph Swallows; his sisters: Cora Suits and Mary Pope; his first wife, Bernice; a very special granddaughter, Mandy Woods; and a son-in-law, Fred Brewer.

Survivors include his wife and best buddy of 42 years, Brenda Swallows: children: Mary Brewer, Ken “Bud” Swallows and his wife, Mary, John Swallows and his wife, Sandy, Patricia Woods and her husband, Phillip, Joey Swallows and his wife, Tammy, and David Swallows, all of Cleveland, and Gordon Swallows of Riceville; brother, Ken Swallows of Cleveland; sister, Margie Defranco of Apollo Beach, Fla.; grandchildren: Jeremy Swallows, Jason Swallows, Sharon Tyboroski, Amy Calhoun, Joshua Woods, Bethany Swallows and Laurel Swallows; great-grandchildren: Jessica Swallows, Justin Calhoun, Makinsey Swallows, Claire Olivia Swallows; and several nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2011, at the Wildwood Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor Gary Sears and the Rev. Joe Brooks officiating.

Interment will follow in Moores Chapel Cemetery with Jeremy Swallows, Jason Swallows, Joshua Woods, Justin Calhoun, Tim Swallows, John Swallows, Ben Swallows and H.C. Baker serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Sammy Hughes, Donnie Hughes, Glen Cantrell, Phillip Woods, Ed Swallows and Cecil Swallows.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorials be made to The American Heart Association or to The Salvation Army, Inman Street, Cleveland, TN 37311.
