Gary Vastine Constant, 65, of Cleveland, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011.

He was a faithful member of St. James Cumberland Presbyterian Church of America in Cleveland, where he oversaw church transportation and property management.

He was also on the finance committee. He was active in Cleveland city youth recreation as well, giving his time as an umpire and referee.

He was a graduate of College Hill High School and Tusculum College with a degree in business. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was recently retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eva Constant; brothers: Marshall Constant, Charlie Johnson and Eddie Johnson; and sisters: Mary Constant and Goldie Whaley.

He is survived by his daughter, Candice Renee Constant-Milligan, and son-in-law, Gregory Milligan, of Cleveland; two grandchildren: Martell Brown and Amyia Brown, both of Cleveland; brother, Robert (Nancy) Constant; asisters: Mildred Taylor and Lorraine Mastin, all of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Linda Constant of Chattanooga; aunt Adella Jones of Cleveland; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial service will be held Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at 5 p.m. at Wildwood Church of God of Prophecy with the Rev. Rhonda Westfield delivering the eulogy and Bishop Winston Reid officiating.

Service will conclude with military honor guard at the veteran section of Fort Hill Cemetery.
