Family and friends were joined by “Mickey and Minnie Mouse” in honoring the disabled child in a day of fun and games that captured the joy of the celebration.
According to her family, this was the first time Abby was able to celebrate her birthday on her actual day of birth, due to sickness or being hospitalized in previous years. Grandmother Cindy Ogle said, “I can not believe it’s been five years! It seems like yesterday she was born and offering us no hope. But we held strong to our faith and stood on the word of God — believe and you shall receive. Well, we believed. We kept our faith and He blessed us.
“They didn’t think she would live past 1 year old but as each year came and went she and God showed who was in control. So here we are five years later and doing great!”
Although Abby was in the hospital every three months in the past, she recently made it through the second winter season without being in the hospital. The spirited young “miracle child” is laughing and making improvements in her sounds and comprehension, according to Ogle.
