He was the son of the late Ada Kate Kimbrough Rockholt and William Hardin Rockholt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Iva McKenzie Rockholt; and great-grandchild, Kelsey Stabler.
After enlisting in the Navy in World War II and serving in the Pacific, he returned to complete McMinn County High School and was co-founder/owner with his brother and father of Rockholt’s Furniture.
He enjoyed playing bass guitar, practical jokes and sharing humorous stories with his many friends and acquaintances. He was a member of Cleveland First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son, Charles E. “Chuck” Rockholt Jr. and his wife, Evelyn, of Cleveland; grandchildren: Scott Rockholt and wife, Michelle, of Chattanooga, Shannon Rockholt Coe and husband, Scott, of Lake City, Fla., Amy Byrd and husband, Albert, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jamie McCurry of Chattanooga; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his friend and brother, Herb Rockholt of Decatur.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at Cleveland First Baptist Church with the Rev. Max Morris and Dr. Albert Byrd officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church prior to the service.
