A small single-engine airplane crash-landed this morning at Hardwick Field Airport after the pilot reportedly approached the runway too fast and overshot the airstrip.

The plane slid into a fence on the south end of the runway, according to Stan Clark, public information officer of the Bradley County Emergency Medical Service, which dispatched a crew to the scene at 10:23 a.m.

Clark said the unidentified pilot, who was reportedly flying from Augusta, Ga., walked away uninjured from the scene. He was apparently flying alone.

Investigation is continuing.

Additional details will be published in Thursday’s edition of the Cleveland Daily Banner.
