She was a member of Springtown Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Harvey Hicks and Dovie Hensley Hicks; husband, J. C. Thompson Jr.; son, Bill Thompson; and granddaughter, Dawn Marie Gentry.
She is survived by her children, Pat Gentry of Etowah, Terry Thompson of Benton and Larry Thompson of Reliance; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral was held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Pete Morgan officiating.
Interment was at 10 a.m. today in the Camp Ground Cemetery.
