On Sept. 11, the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Knoxville will resound with The Voices of Lee, a 17-member a cappella ensemble from Lee University. Since their 1994 debut, this talented group, directed by Danny Murray, has captivated audiences worldwide with their unique variety of vocal harmonies, high-energy patriotic tunes, fun-filled audience participation, and heart-felt gospel favorites. In NBC’s first “The Sing Off” season, The Voices of Lee placed second runners-up. Beginning at 7 p.m. in FBC’s sanctuary, their concert will launch the church’s annual concert series, which Dr. Kely Hatley, FBC’s minister of music, initiated four years ago. The community is cordially invited to attend the Sept. 11 concert, a portion of which will be a 9/11 remembrance. Although admission is free, tickets are required. You may order your tickets by calling First Baptist Church’s Music Office (865-246-4655). The church is located at 510 W. Main Ave. next to the City-County Building in downtown Knoxville.
