Josephine Phillips, 88, passed away Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at her residence surrounded with loving family.

She devoted her life to the Lord’s work and her family. She also served the students at Oak Grove for 16 years with delicious meals and was known for her ability to cook some delicious chocolate treats.

She was a member of Union Grove Church of Christ. She will be missed by her loving family and friends. Her love and kindness was seen to all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dina Hicks Still; her loving husband, Hubert Phillips; her daughter, Wanda Haney; her son-in-law Jimmy Haney; and several brothers and sisters: Martin “Cotton” Still, Roy “Jack” Still, Gussie Phillips, Ida Mae Still, Mary Humphrey, Sue McConnell and Margaret J. Renner.

She is survived by one daughter, Peggy Brown; one son, Larry Phillips and daughter-in-law, Charlotte Phillips; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren, all of Cleveland; two sisters: Frances McConnell and Betty Elmore and spouse, Benny; and one brother, Robert K. Still, all of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews; and one lifelong friend, Ruth Pierce of Cleveland.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today, Aug. 28, 2011, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Minister Ted Gobble and Minister Steve Hall officiating.

Interment will follow in Union Grove Church of Christ Cemetery with Coby Phillips, Ronnie Phillips, Eric Goins, Randall Clark, James Brown, Mike Abernathy and Brian Frady serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home prior to the service.
