September has been set aside as National Honey Month, so come celebrate with the Ocoee Regional Beekeepers Association.

The association will be hosting an open house on Sept. 20, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Benton Community Center at 6496 Highway 411.

There will be many displays showing all levels of beekeeping and honey harvesting. There will be honey sampling from various areas in the region and some members will have honey for sale.

Honey has been considered, by many, one of the perfect foods and is an ingredient for a variety of useful elixirs to cure, heal or improve multiple ailments.

Ocoee Regional Beekeepers Association has 47 members from Chatsworth, Cleveland, Benton and other surrounding communities.

There are many benefits available to club members including, extracting equipment for rent, reduced subscriptions to magazines, reduced prices on some bee medications and an extensive library with some great educational books.
