Josh Ball and Kareem Gordon each scored two goals in leading the Lee University men’s soccer team to a 7-0 blanking of Tennessee Temple University Friday night at the Lee soccer field. The Flames have won three straight matches and stand at 3-1 on the season, while the Crusaders are winless in five matches.

Ball broke the ice in the 28th minute with a goal from a double assist by Mohamed Aden and Stanley Magwano. Ball assisted Marvin Ochieng nine minutes later to give Lee an early 2-0 lead.

Gordon would come off the bench to score Lee’s final two goals of the first half. The freshman headed Sebastian Vallejo’s cross into the back of the net in the 41st minute and in the 44th minute collected a pass from Kwame Boamah and slipped it past the Crusaders’ keeper.

As he did in the first half, Ball started the scoring in the second half. Josh Inglis collected the assist. Inglis would make the margin 6-0 with a long-range strike with 16 minutes remaining in the match.

Theo Dweh put a cap on the scoring in the 87th minute with a shot that deflected off the goalkeeper and into the far corner of the net.

For the match, Lee took 35 shots and put 17 on goal. Tennessee Temple garnered just three shots with only one on target. The Flames tallied 15 corner kicks to the Crusaders’ three.

Sophomore Otto Collins recorded one save on his way to his first shutout of the season.

The Flames will travel to Dayton on Tuesday evening to face 10th-ranked Bryan College. The match is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
