Joshua Emmitt Ellis, 25, a resident of Jonesborough, passed away Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He was a graduate of Walker Valley High School, Class of 2004. He attended Cleveland State Community College and graduated from East Tennessee State University in 2009 with a B.S. degree in marketing. His hobbies included photography, hiking and fishing.

He was employed with Target department store in Johnson City.

He was known as a gentle soul with a caring nature and an easy smile. He was selfless in his relations, always willing to cheerfully help his loved ones in any way he could. He was a source of pride to his family and a point of inspiration to his colleagues. He will be remembered as a beloved son, grandson, brother and friend. His legacy will carry on in the hearts of everyone he touched.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Etta Ellis; grandparents, Emmett and Veniece Ellis and Glen Spencer.

Survivors include his parents, Guy and Karen Ellis of Cleveland; maternal grandmother, Pat Spencer of Pauls Valley, Okla.; four brothers: William Glen Ellis and wife, Heather Shea, and James Spencer Ellis, all of Cleveland, Billy Guy Ellis of Grove, Okla., Benjamin Lee Ellis and wife, Talauna, of Moore, Okla.; three nieces and two nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. (CDT) Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Pauls Valley, Okla.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
