GRAND REOPENING CELEBRATION of Martin’s Hair Fashion at a new location — 891 Keith St. behind Auto Zone at Willow Point — was held recently. Participating in the ribbon cutting were, from left, Mary Carson, Victor Bracero, Amy Young, Chandra Herron, Makinley Herron, Joyce Cates, City Councilman George Poe, owner Ruby DeFriece, pastor of Kinser Road Church of God Guinn Green, Wilma Martin Kaylor, Clyde Kaylor, and Kelly Mikel and Debbie Hooker, employees. Martin’s Hair Fashion first opened in 1964 on Parker Street. The center quickly outgrew its facility and a second shop was opened on North Ocoee Street. In 1967, the shop moved with Cleveland Beauty Supply to Sahara Drive. Fifteen years ago Wilma Martin sold the beauty shop to DeFriece. There are six operators — DeFriece, Joyce Cates and Debbie Hooker, who all have 25 years experience; and Kelly Mikel, Victor Braveco and Amy Young. The shop is open six days a week.
