Dewey M. Lewallen, 71, of Cleveland, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at his residence, surrounded by family and friends.
He was a member of Thompson Springs Baptist Church.
He was employed by Magic Chef/Maytag for 37 years. He was a former member of the Taylors Ruritan Club. He loved to farm and fish.
He was the son of the late Jeff L. and Grace Lewallen. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Herman, Henry, Arthur, Uyless and Russell Lewallen; three sisters-in-law: Clara Jean Lewallen, Shirley Lewallen and Madelene Lewallen; and one brother-in-law, Richard Smallen.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ellene Lewallen, of Cleveland; three sons and daughters-in-law: Ricky and Melissa Lewallen, Danny and Kathy Lewallen and Terry and Carmella Lewallen; one daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Brian Neeley, all of Cleveland; eight grandchildren: Dustin and Natalie Kilgore, Jessica and Justin Davenport, Tyler Lewallen, Ashley Seaber, Justin and Sierra Lewallen, Lana and Jacob Neeley; six great-grandchildren: Hunter, Brooke, Emily and Abigail Kilgore, Kayla and Alyssa Davenport; brothers: Lowell Lewallen and wife, Faye, of Polk County and Vonell Lewallen of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Naomi Lewallen of Cleveland; sisters: Faye Shubert and husband, Lester Shubert, of Old Fort and Teresa Smallen of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews; special friends: Robert (Robbie) Still, Charles Prock, Ronnie Shubert, Homer Roberts, James Dobbs and Tony Hernandez.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Revs. Joe White and Homer Roberts officiating.
Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
Pallbearers include Tyler Lewallen, Shawn Lewallen, Enis Lewallen, David Lewallen, Steve Lewallen, Kyle Roberts and Dustin Kilgore. Honorary pallbearers include Justin Davenport, Ronnie Shubert and the men of Thompson Springs Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
