He was a retired security installer at Detek Security. He was also a NASCAR fan, enjoyed working outdoors and a was an amateur picker. He was of the Protestant faith.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Rhoads.
Survivors include his companion of 11 years, Grace Ogas, of Cleveland; five children: Todd Rhoads of Edwardsville, Ill., Chase and Lain Rhoads of Granite City, Ill., and Cheyenne and Sidney Rhoads of Brownwood, Texas; five grandchildren; one brother, Bernard Strain of Shelbyville, Mo.; and one sister, Linda Gibbs of Hillsboro, Mo.
There will be no local service held at this time.
