Robert “Bob” Beaty, 81, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, in a local health care facility.

He was a member of North Cleveland Church of God.

He was a graduate of Bradley Central High School class of 1950 where he played football, basketball and baseball all four years. He graduated from MTSU in 1958 with a degree in physical education.

He was a teacher at Valley View School for two years, Oak Grove School for four years and Charleston High School for 30 years. He also served as head basketball coach and athletic director at Charleston High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany.

He was the son of the late Leonard Beaty and Lottie Wooden Beaty. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bonne Reffner Beaty, who passed away in 2009.

Survivors include his daughter, Gina Daresta; two grandchildren, Eddie Daresta and Sydney Daresta; two sisters, Tean Matthews and Brenda Hall; two brothers: the Rev. Bill Beaty and Rudy Beaty, all of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Mitch Maloney officiating. The service will conclude with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
