The Cleveland Police Department is investigating an early morning traffic fatality after a crash on Georgetown Road just north of the Paul Huff Parkway intersection. The fatal accident involved a pickup truck and a log hauler.

The crash occurred just after 8 a.m. when the two vehicles collided near a small bridge over Candies Creek on the two-lane roadway. According to motorists at the scene, the pickup burst into flames following the crash.

Fire Department personnel arrived at the site shortly after the crash and extinguished the fire from the smaller vehicle.

The driver of the logging truck was transported to SkyRidge Medical Center with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family members.

The logging truck was apparently southbound along Georgetown Road, with the pickup traveling north.

According to Bradley County law enforcement personnel, this is the 11th traffic fatality of the year for the county. Bradley County had only two traffic deaths through June, with nine deaths recorded over the past three months.

Cleveland Police and the city fire department responded to the scene, along with several Bradley County emergency service personnel.
