For the second straight week, the Lee University Lady Flames soccer team has swept the weekly SSAC Awards, with Leah Fortune winning Offensive Player of the Week, and Amy Cochran grabbing the Defensive honor.

The Lee ladies competed in two games this past weekend, defeating No.21 William Carey University, 5-1, Friday, and following Saturday with a 6-0 win over Belhaven University.

Fortune was the offensive star in Friday’s win, earning a hat trick to fuel the Lady Flames’ victory. She followed Saturday with a goal and two assists, and currently leads the squad in points on the season, with six goals and eight assists total.

Contributing on both ends of the field, Cochran earned her first career conference honor. With the sophomore anchoring the Lee defense, the Lady Flames allowed just six shots total in both games, with Cochran also pitching in an assist in the Belhaven contest.

The third-ranked Lady Flames now stand at 7-2 on the season, 4-0 in conference play. They continue Southern States Athletic Conference play this week, traveling to Auburn University-Montgomery for a 2 p.m., Thursday contest. The Lee ladies then return home for a Saturday contest with Faulkner University at 5 p.m.
