The Cleveland Middle School eighth-grade Blue Raiders ran away with a pair of wins, against Ocoee Middle School and East Lake.

The squad took their game against Ocoee Middle School by a score of 28-14.

OMS grabbed an early lead when Avery Jones ran 85 yards for the first score of the game. The Blue Raider defense stepped up their play and did not allow OMS another score until there were only two minutes left on the clock.

Meanwhile, the Blue Raider offense, led by Cantrell Ware’s 176 yards rushing, started to roll. The Blue Raiders put up 20 first half points with touchdown runs by Swan Parker (45 yards) and Ware, who had his first of two touchdowns.

The last touchdown of the half came on a fumble recovery by Hunter Oliver, who returned it 78 yards for a touchdown. CMS led at the half, 20-8.

Ocoee started the third quarter with a drive that ended with a fumble on the Blue Raider 2-yard line. Cantrell Ware recovered the fumble for CMS.

At this point, the Blue Raider offensive line took control of the game, mounting a 13-play, 98-yard scoring drive. The drive took seven minutes of the third and fourth quarters.

The campaign was capped off by Ware scampering for an 11-yard touchdown run.

Ocoee finished off the scoring with its second touchdown, which was not enough.

The Blue Raiders rushed for a total of 316 yards. Coach Mike Connolly praised his offensive line play led by Tyshawn Chapman, Kent Christian, Davron Carlock, Jacob Everett, Kaleb Saez, and Jerry Robinson.

Defensively the Blue Raiders were led by T.J. Constant, Trevon Ware, and Landon Allison who had an interception for the Raiders. CMS’s victory was the second over Ocoee this season.

CMS continued its winning ways, defeating East Lake 28-6. The Blue Raiders had over 300 yards rushing and 75 yards passing.

The Raiders’ first score came on the third play from scrimmage. Cantrell Ware took it in from 22 yards out to put the Raiders up 8-0 after a successful conversion.

East Lake came back strong, mounting a drive of their own but came up short on the CMS 8-yard line. Cleveland scored quickly on the very next play. Ware took the handoff, went off tackle, and 92 yards later put 6 more points on the CMS scoreboard.

The Blue Raiders third touchdown came on quarterback Michael May’s 5-yard run. The score was set up by a 65-yard pass from May to Hunter Oliver. Ware finished off the Raiders scoring with a 9-yard run to take his game total to 188 yards.

The Blue Raider ‘D’ was led by Chase Witt, Hunter Oliver and Tadarius Brown. Brown also had an interception for the Raiders.
