Rebecca Ann Tipton Goins, 81, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 201l, at a local health care facility.

She was a devoted wife to her husband, who served in the military for 28 years.

She was active in many organizations such as, The Azalea Garden Club, DAR, The Red Hat Society and both American Legion and VFW auxiliaries. She was a member of the Protestant religion. She was a friend to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, William Thomas Goins; her parents, Sharon C. and Maurine B. Tipton; and her grandfather, Horace Tipton, who founded Fike Funeral Home in 1894.

She is survived by her children: Sharon A. Armstrong of Elgin, S.C., William T. Goins II of Marietta, Ga., Pamela M. Key of Cleveland and Jeffery E. Goins of Austin, Texas; sister, Elizabeth Golden of Cleveland; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; cousin, Sarah Park of Cleveland; and a very special friend, Barbara Byrd of Florida.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Rev. Marshall Roberson officiating.

Interment will follow in Fort Hill cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 this evening at the funeral home.
