Dr. Andy Harnsberger, director of percussion studies and artist in residence at Lee University, was recently recognized for his composition, “Coming Undone.”

The piece was selected for the Percussive Arts Society Inter-national Convention’s New Percussion Literature session.

The piece premiered in the Lee University Percussion Ensemble concert last April.

It was selected from hundreds of other compositions, and will be performed at the November convention in Indianapolis.

Every year at PASIC, there is a session devoted to highlighting representative new percussion works.

“Coming Undone,” written for seven percussionists, was selected by Dan Moore, professor of percussion at University of Iowa, who is in charge of the new music session this year. The University of Iowa percussion ensemble will be the group performing the piece.

Harnsberger received his doctorate of musical arts in performance and literature from the Eastman School of Music, and his master of music and bachelor of music degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University.
