Betty Watts Norton, 84, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, Oct. 24, 2011 at her residence.

A member of Westwood Baptist Church since moving to Cleveland in 1965, she served in various capacities, including church librarian for more than 40 years.

She was also an active volunteer in many community organizations, including serving on the Cleveland/Bradley Community Concert Association board of directors and as an officer of the North Lee Ruritan club.

She was the daughter of the late Thomas Martin Watts Sr. and Jeanette Harris Watts. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Martin Norton; and daughter, Susan Eileen Norton.

Survivors include her children: Sam Norton and wife, Jan Norton, of Sugar Land, Texas, and Scott Norton and wife, Merietta, of Baton Rouge, La.; grandchildren: Jessica and Chevis Jackson of Pensacola, Fla., Sarah and Don Blakeney of Blountville, Emily and Jonathan Roberts of Zachary, La., and Kirkley and Lynley Norton of Baton Rouge; and great-grandson, Caleb Blakeney, and great-granddaughter, Leah Blakeney, both of Bountville.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Revs. Harold Smith, Jim Caywood and Bert Jones officiating.

Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.

Her family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
