Mary Price Hayes, 81, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday morning, Oct. 28, 2011 in a local hospital.
She was born in Cartersville, Ga., the daughter of the late Ernest Price and Elma Bell Price. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gene O. Hayes, and two brothers, Wayne Price and William H. Price.
She was a graduate of Etowah High School and Erlanger School of Nursing. She was employed for over 40 years at Bradley Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse. After she retired from nursing, she served as a volunteer foster grandparent at Oak Grove School and Blythe Avenue School. She was a member of Georgetown Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School in the children’s department for several years.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Oltz of Benton, and Leslie Sherman and her husband, Timothy, of Cleveland; grandchildren: Will Oltz and his wife, Lauren, Joe Oltz, Maggie Smith, Tyler Sherman and Tristan Sherman; one great-grandchild, McKynzie Oltz; one sister, Jane Gregg of Cleveland; brother-in-law, Sherrill Hayes of Old Fort, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Arnold Hayes of Murfreesboro. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A Remembrance of Life Memorial Service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Monday at Jim Rush Funeral Homes, North Ocoee Chapel with the Rev. Earl Farris officiating.
The family will receive friends Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to Georgetown Baptist Church or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
