Approximately 140 fourth- and fifth-grade students performed in the first performance of the Bradley County Schools Elementary Honor Choir.

Select students (up to 12) from all 11 elementary schools in Bradley County came together to work with guest clinician, LuAnn Holden from Lee University. Holden is also a former choral director for Bradley High School. The music for the event was selected by Holden to provide the students with an opportunity to explore a more challenging level of musical difficulty.

Pieces performed included a patriotic selection, an African piece. a Hebrew piece and several others. Choir members sang in mostly two part harmonies for most pieces. Instrumentalists included Kristy Parker (pianist and accompanist for Hopewell Elementary Singers), Fredda Burton (flutist, percussion and music teacher from Oak Grove Elementary), John Burton (trumpet and student from Walker Valley High Band), Cara Rogers (percussion and music teacher from Michigan Avenue School), Sarah Burris (percussion and music teacher from Hopewell Elementary). Those involved said the concert brought about unity to the county school system and provided our students and community with a beautiful musical experience.

Initial rehearsals were determined by each school’s music teacher. Students rehearsed with their music teachers prior to the mass choir rehearsal prior to the performance. Students rehearsed from 8:30am-3:00 p.m., before performing at 6 p.m.
