John Barnes “J.B.” Moore, 94, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 10, 2011, at a local health care facility and went to be with his Lord and Saviour. He would have celebrated his 95th birthday today.

He was a well-known dairy farmer in the Dry Valley community, where he had resided his entire life. He was a member of the ASCS Committee for several years and was inducted in the Bradley County Agriculture Hall of Fame in 1996. He was a licensed minister in the Baptist faith.

He was the son of the late George R. Moore and Pet Barnes Moore; also preceding him in death were his stepmother, Georgia Moore; infant son, Bill Moore; brothers: James M. “Booty” Moore and Walter French Moore; and sister, Pasty Logan.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Ruth Simmons Moore; sons: Jack Moore (Mary) and Jim Moore (Paula); daughter, Nancy Bechtel and husband, Gary, all of Cleveland; six grandchildren: Sarah Newman (Jeff), Bill Moore (Susan), Brian Bechtel, Beth Miser (Derek), Chad Moore (Laura) and Amanda Richardson (Clay); six great-grandchildren: Hannah and Daniel Newman, Stephenie McKinney, Sarah Beth Miser, Tenley Richardson and Emmaline Moore; sisters: Ann Suits of Cleveland and Gertrude Haun of Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Revs. Jon Henson and Raymond Simpson officiating.

Interment will follow in New Friendship Cemetery with Bill Moore, Brian Bechtel, Chad Moore, John Mark Moore, Tommy Haun and Clay Richardson serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
