Born in Savannah, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Aussie Saxon and Essie Johnson Saxon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Andrew Buckner Sr.; and sister, Joan Saxon Holbrook.
She loved her church and enjoyed singing, playing the piano and reading the Bible. She also enjoyed quilting, baking and spending time with her family.
Survivors include one son, James Thomas Jones IV of Cleveland; two daughters: Barbara Kay Wall of Cleveland and Christann Jones Smith and her husband, Kevin, of Savannah; two stepsons: Clayton Andrew Buckner Jr. and Jeffrey Leon Buckner, both of Cleveland; one sister, Carolyn Saxon Kennedy and her husband, Sonny, of Claxton; two brothers: Aubrey Saxon and his wife, Laura, of Hattiesburg, Miss., Carl Saxon of South Carolina; grandchildren: Samantha Jones and Julia Jones, both of Savannah; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at The Family Chapel Church, 240 Eisenhower St. with Pastors Patricia Buckner and Bob Fisher officiating.
Interment will follow in Conasauga Cemetery in Etowah.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes.
