The Rev. Cleatis E. Blevins, 87, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2011.

He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He served more than 60 years as pastor, teacher and missionary to Africa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, S.H. and Ella Blevins; his eldest daughter, Mary Edith Blevins Williams; and siblings.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Laura Johnson Blevins; daughters: Lydia Reynolds and Priscilla Curnutte; sons: James Blevins and Joel Blevins; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; brother, George X; and sister, Jewell Godfrey.

The funeral will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 7414 Old Lee Highway, with the Rev. Tony Walliser officiating.

Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military rites being conducted.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
