She was the daughter of the late Flavis and Lula Dixon. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jack Rakestraw.
Survivors include her four children: David, Pat, Sue and John Rakestraw; four grandchildren: Symara, Seth, Baylee and Sean Rakestraw; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and brothers: Ron Dixon, Charles Dixon and Harold Dixon.
A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at the Pine Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery in McDonald.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
