Vernell Houck Cook, 89, of Cleveland, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, in an Ooltewah health care facility.

She was a member of Central Church of Christ.

She was the daughter of the late Ray and Beulah Houck. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Cook, in 2002.

She is survived by her two sons: Harold Cook of Beaumont, Texas, and Bob Cook of Ooltewah; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today, Nov. 20, 2011, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Minister Tom Harrison officiating.

Interment will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home prior to the service.
