Barbara Ann Wilson Elmore, only child of Bill Wilson and Ailene Suits Wilson, grew up with cousins whom she loved a great deal, and she told of fun times growing up with them

She loved to talk about growing up on Ball Park Curve and knowing most everyone, because everyone came to the ball field at one time or another, especially for the Fourth of July celebrations with sack races, greasy pole climbing and all-day ball games. The day ended with a fireworks display.

Friends and family gathered in her yard for the end of day to watch fireworks, and there was usually homemade ice cream.

That tradition continued after she and Harry were married and had their first home on Parker Avenue. Friends and family would gather to watch the fireworks display from Cleveland’s first new mall, the Village shopping center. Always ice cream followed.

She accepted Christ as her Savior when she was 24 and never forgot that for all of her life God cared for her. She rarely feared the future because she knew God was in control, and that was OK. She was a happy person who enjoyed her family and friends.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cleveland and a former member of North Cleveland, where she and Harry attended for 31 years.

Friends were always an important part of her life, she could count on them, and they on her. She was blessed in life.

She was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband of 50 years, Harry Elmore; her parents, Bill and Ailene Suits Wilson; high school friend and maid of honor, Sylvia Cornelison Bedwell; children and grandchildren, whom she loved daily and forever: Franklin and Marisa Elmore, Grayson and Ellen Elmore; Beth Elmore Aronica, Anne Wilson Aronica; and Nick Aronica, Amy Elmore Hicks and Wes Hicks.

The funeral will be held at 6:30 p.m. today, Nov. 22, 2011, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Dr. Jay McCluskey officiating.

Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens. Her beloved family members will serve as pallbearers; honorary pallbearers will be Bradley High School Class of 1957 and all her cousins.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 6 p.m. today, at the funeral home prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, she requested any acts of kindness be donated to the Ronald McDonald House for hurting families in Chattanooga, The Shriners Burn Unit and charities of your choice.
