Ora “Pud” Holden Stewart, 78, of Etowah, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, in a McMinn County hospital.

She spent most of her life in Polk County, but in recent years she lived in McMinn County. She attended Watson’s Chapel in Madisonville. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Linnie Gregg Holden; first husband, J.D. Woody; second husband, Hayes Stewart; infant son, Freddie Woody; granddaughter, Crystal Meyers; infant great-granddaughter, Madison Ballew; brothers: Wendy Holden, Jim Holden and Birch Holden; and sisters: Mary Kate Richardson and Martha Hurt.

She is survived by her sisters: Mary Olsen and Johnnie Harris; children: Lucille Wilson and husband, Tom, Martha Ballew and husband, Grant, and Mary Ann Blackwell; grandchildren: Ray Ballew, Tabby Oliver-Helms and husband, Jason, Ashley Wilson and Nathan Ervin, Emily Wilson and Jake Barnett, Jasmine Blackwell and Brandon Hoffer and Racynda Ward and husband, Andy; and great-grandchildren: Logan Ballew, Danielle Ballew, Gabe Baxter and Jayden Ward.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, at Higgins Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Trentham and Pastor Jerry Herron officiating.

Interment will follow in Benton Cemetery with Ray Ballew, Daniel Shelton, Jake Barnett, Nathan Ervin, Perry Rogers and Jerry Richardson serving as pallbearers.

A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday prior to the service.
