Mr. and Mrs. Robert Carter Runyan of Athens announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Katharine Alexa, to Hunter Clay Watson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Clay Watson of Cleveland.

The couple will wed on Dec. 10 in a 6:30 p.m. ceremony at Keith Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dennie Humphreys officiating.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Wayne Bivens, Carolyn Newlin and the late Robert and Carolyn Runyan. She is the sister of John Runyan.

A graduate of McMinn County High School, Miss Runyan earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration/finance from Tennessee Wesleyan College in 2010. She is employed as a warranty administrator at Grayson BMW in Knoxville.

The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry W. Watson, Linda Nelson and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nelson. He is the brother of Ben Watson and Wendi Watson.

A graduate of Walker Valley High School, Mr. Watson earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science and physical education from Tennessee Wesleyan College in 2011. He is employed as a teacher, men’s and women’s tennis coach and assistant women’s basketball coach at Farragut High School in Knoxville.
