A 19-year-old man was seriously injured in a vehicle wreck late Monday afternoon on Interstate 75, near Exit 20 south of Cleveland.

Just before 6 p.m. the Bradley County Emergency Medical Service responded with two ambulances and a paramedic supervisor to the accident scene.

A vehicle was traveling north when the driver apparently lost control, crossed the median and struck another car and an 18-wheeler in the southbound lane. EMS personnel found the 19-year-old driver pinned in the wreckage of his vehicle.

The driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was severely injured and the paramedic in charge requested air medical personnel to transport the individual to the level-one trauma center at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.

The individual was stabilized on the scene and transferred by LifeForce helicopter. The victim’s name and condition were not available at press time.

The truck driver had no obvious injuries, but was transported by EMS to SkyRidge Medical Center for observation. I-75 south was tied up for a couple of hour for cleanup.

- Another traffic accident was reported just after 5 a.m. today on Blue Springs Road.

A 37-year-old man received what appeared to be minor injuries when his vehicle struck a utility pole. He was taken by Bradley County EMS to SkyRidge Medial Center. His identification was not released.

The utility pole was broken and was being held up by wires.

- Tennessee state trooper Tim Aslinger investigated another accident on I-75 just after the Exit 20 collision.

Aslinger said today he investigated a two-car wreck with no injuries. He said there was considerable damage in the rear-end collision.
