Joy M. Storie Parris, 80, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, in a local health care facility.
She was a member of Concord Baptist Church of Chattanooga. She was a school teacher for 32 years.
She was the daughter of the late Clayton Storie and Rema Crouch Storie Conner. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James Benton Parris; and siblings: Joe Harrison Storie and Jack Winton Storie.
She is survived by her three children: Brenda S. Maples of Mineral Bluff, Ga., Mary L. Miller and husband, Daniel E. Miller, of Murphy, N.C. and Jamie K. Parris of Monroe; two grandchildren: Marcus Hindmon of Cleveland and Matthew Hindmon of Dixon, Mo.; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Burma Thornell and husband, Richard Thornell, of Sulphur Springs, Ind., Brenda Johnson and husband, Delbert Johnson, of Wilmington, N.C., and Kathy Parris and husband, Paul Parris, of Kingsport; in-laws: Thomas Parris and wife, Nell Parris of Dawson, Ga., Marshall Parris and wife, Natalie Parris, of Monroe, Paul Parris and wife, Kathy Parris, of Kingsport and Frances M. Parris of Chattanooga; and a special friend, Barbara Davis of Chattanooga.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Segrest officiating.
Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
