The KO Legacy Team is a select dance team of talented ladies which competes all over the Southeast. For this win, the KO Legacy dancers defeated Heritage High School dance team from Conyers, Ga., Pebblebrook High School from Mableton, Ga., and Westlake High School from Atlanta.
The KO Legacy Team then brought home the coveted High School Grand Champion Award, achieving highest out of all the cheer- and dance-team scores in the high school division. For these wins, the girls received trophies, a team Grand Champion Banner, a $100 cash award and individual Grand Champion jackets.
On Nov. 19, the KO Dance Team traveled to Chattanooga to compete in the Fusion Cheer and Dance competition. The team won first place in Senior Hip Hop, first place in Senior Jazz, and first place in Senior Pom. The teams defeated Rah! Spirit Storm and Power-N-Motion dance teams to achieve these honors.
On Dec. 3, in the UDA Smoky Mountain Dance Competition in Sevierville, the KO Legacy Team competed in Senior Hip Hop and Senior Pom. They took first place in Senior Hip Hop defeating Premier Knoxville North Sharks and Dazzler All Stars from Kentucky. The KO pom routine took third-place in the competition.
Members of the KO Legacy All Star Dance Team are Ariana Kim and Hannah Kalb, captains, Keiosha Harrison, Jessica Greene, Ashley Beaty, Elizabeth Brooks, Laura Hays, Aimee Barnett, Lexy Boone, Mary Martha Maddox, Erin Cooper, Brynnan Miller, Brooke Humble, Emily Hicks, Tenlie Logsdon, Ana Rocha, Hayley Green, Savannah DeMetro and Emily Benson.
The coach is Kelly Ann Owens. The team choreographers are Susan Dyer and Will Linder. Miss Owens said, “The KO Legacy Dance Team gives high-school-age girls the chance to further their dance technique and performance and be an active part in the competition arena. It is exciting to see girls from our area be successful and win against teams from Atlanta, Knoxville and Kentucky.” She said the girls work very hard, and she is proud of their accomplishments thus far this season.
Owens said they are really excelling — especially in hip hop — and cannot wait to compete in Nashville, Knoxville, and Disney World.”
