Ruth I. Casteel, 94, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, in a local health care facility.

She was a member of Four Point Baptist Church, where she taught vacation Bible school and Sunday school in earlier years. She was very devoted to the Senior Citizens Center.

She was the daughter of the late Alex Richeson and Annie Ruth Campbell Richeson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Casteel; her son, Thomas Leonard Casteel; and one grandson.

She is survived by four daughter: Joanne Casteel Davis of Cleveland, Joy Casteel Frazier of Charleston, Elaine Casteel Sanders of McDonald and Kathy Casteel Crisp of Cleveland; three sons: William Bill Casteel, Ben Casteel and Mark Casteel, all of Cleveland; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Sarah Varnell of Ooltewah; one brother, James T. “Buster” Richeson of South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Caffrey officiating.

Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.

Scott Stevison, Jeff Stevison, Monty Frazier, Tony Davis, Danny Davis, Vince Pierce, Whitney Mantooth, Jon Mantooth, Joe Evans, Jarred Casteel and Joe Casteel will serve as pallbearers.

Her family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
