Tunes 4 the Troops finished its mission of sending a million donated CDs and DVDs to U.S. troops serving in combat zones in September.
Radzyminski came up with the idea in 2005 as a 14-year-old freshman at Cleveland High School. She is now a 21-year-old student at Tennessee Tech University.
Tunes 4 the Troops had its genesis after she attended summer training with the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps where she met some Marines just back from Iraq.
When she asked what was the hardest part about being gone, they told her missing family and missing entertainment.
From that discussion the idea for Tunes 4 the Troops was born.
The effort has received help from all over the country and even from Canada and England, with a total of 800 satellite locations.
Tunes 4 the Troops is now located at Tennessee Tech University.
The effort will continue as a “do-it-yourself” program to connect donors with units requesting the entertainment.
