Chattanooga NAACP to mark Jubilee Day Sunday

Chattanooga — The Chattanooga-Hamilton County NAACP will hold its Annual Jubilee Day Celebration on Sunday.

Jubilee Day gives Black Americans the opportunity to celebrate their freedom from slavery.

Jubilee Day is a time when the history of the suffering as slaves is remembered; the experience of segregation is recounted; and, the strategies for facing equality and justice for the future are reshaped.

The celebration begins at 11 a.m. at Phillips Temple CME Church, located at 1321 North Moore Road.

Pastor Cheryl E. Jones-Goliday of Phillips Temple CME Church will be the speaker.

The Chattanooga Hamilton County NAACP Branch officers and executive committee members are:
