Curtis Morgan, 66, of the Springtown community, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 13, 2012, after battling a lengthy illness.
He was a member of Springtown Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent for several years. He was employed at Magic Chef, Diamond Carpets and Brown’s Stove. He loved his family, gardening, and canning.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carson J. Morgan, and mother, Donnie Blackwell Morgan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Joyce Wampler Morgan; one daughter, DeeAnn Rymer and husband, Steve, of Soddy-Daisy; sons: Mark Morgan and wife, Anita, of Delano, and Steven Morgan and wife, Angie, of Etowah; seven grandchildren: Jamie, Jessica, Brandi, John Curtis, James, Jacob, and Joy; three stepgrandchildren: Angie, Stevie and Brittany; four great-grandchildren: Kayci, Mason, Jonathan, and Jacob; two stepgreat-grandchildren: Dalyn and Braylon; one sister, Barbara Freeman and husband, Sydnor, of Springtown; brothers: Henry Morgan and wife, Vondell, of Springtown, Marvin Morgan of Benton, and Terry Morgan and wife, Norma, of Springtown; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at the Higgins Funeral Home today, Jan. 15, 2012, at 8 p.m. Officiating will be the Revs. Pete Morgan and Terry Daniels.
Interment will be held Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Morgan Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Mark Morgan, Steven Morgan, Steve Rymer, Johnny Morgan, Chris Morgan, Denzel Freeman, John Curtis Morgan, James Morgan, and Jacob Morgan.
The family will receive friends on today at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m., prior to the service.
