Ruth “Pidge” Turpin Fair, a resident of Cleveland, passed away peacefully at her home, Friday, Jan. 13, 2012.

She was a longtime member of Central Church of Christ.

She was a woman of great faith and held to the belief the Lord would always take care of everything. She had an infectious laugh and was ahead of her time in style with the striped glasses she wore.

She worked for 70 years at the Central Drug Co., where she worked first for Drs. Stickley and Jones and then for Steve Medley when he purchased the company in 1971. She also worked with her late husband, Hoyt, for many years at the Star Vue Drive-in and the Cinema I & II theater.

She was loved dearly by her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all lucky enough to have known her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hoyt O. Fair; parents, Richard “Dick” Lynn and Pearl White Turpin; brothers: Cecil, Earl, Sam and Lynn Turpin; and great-grandchildren: Tyler Cox and Maylyn and Carson Thacker.

Survivors include her beloved daughter and son-in-law, ReNee’ Fair Haney and Franklin M. Haney; grandson, George O. Haney and wife, Debbie; granddaughters: Holli Carroll and husband, John, and Kippi Cox and former husband, Bill; great-grandchildren: Hunter, Drake and Chase Ann Haney, Heather Haney Rogers and husband, Jeremy, Alie and Kegan Cox, all of Cleveland, and Ben and Jax Carroll of Mineral Bluff, Ga.; great-great-granddaughter, Lilli Rogers, of Cleveland; a very dear sister-in-law, Vivian Turpin of Cleveland; nieces: Dianne Fair and Jenny Lynn Elkins of Cleveland; nephews: Mike Turpin of Custer, Wash., Will Turpin of Vancouver, B.C., Barry, David and Roger Turpin of Cleveland, Tom Fair of Madisonville, Bill Fair of Athens, C.L. Fair of Houston, Jim Fair of Knoxville, and Don Fabiani and Larry Fair of Valley, Ala.; and numerous cousins in Alto, Ga., and Sweetwater.

Funeral will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with ministers Wayne Miller and Tom Harrison officiating.

Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery with George O. Haney, Hunter Haney, Drake Haney, John Carroll, Bill Cox and Steve Medley serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
