Joe Semak of Family Promies was the guest speaker for the Civitan meeting. He was the guest of Chris Turner. Family Promise of Bradley County, a ministry that began operations in last September, currently has a number of church congregations that provide volunteers and church facilities to help homeless children and their families re-establish permanent housing. The participating congregations supply a safe environment, volunteers who serve as hosts, and many other resources to aid participants in the process toward independence. The ministry is multi-denomination and is already making a positive impact in our community. Nationwide, Family Promise has participant success rates near 80 percent. The ministry uses a proven model that helps families quickly secure resources, develop planning skills, and secure permanent housing.
