Carolyn Cloer, 72, a resident of Cleveland, passed away on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Feb. 15, 1939, in Dalton, Ga., a daughter of the late Claude and Bessie Ridley.

She was of the Baptist faith and a gifted writer, who wrote many stories and poems. Even though she had some of her works published, she got the greatest joy out of sharing them with her family and those she held dear to her heart.

She was also a wonderful cook and gardener, but will be most remembered for being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Eddie Duane Cloer; three sisters: Lillian Irene Ridley Powell, Allene Ridley Hughes, and Mildred Ridley Owenby; and four brothers: Larry Edward Ridley, Wilburn Seth Ridley, William Thomas “Billy” Ridley and C. H. Ridley.

She leaves here to cherish her memory a loving husband of 58 wonderful years, Bob Cloer; daughters: Janice Higgins (Tim), Brenda Ross, Patricia Meeks (Mitchell), Cynthia Bishop, and Laura Gunderson (Todd); son, Casey Cloer (Natasha); sister, Lena L. “Patsy” Ridley Williams; three brothers: Elmer Austin Ridley (Martha), Kenneth James Ridley (Lana), and Robert C. L. “Bobby” Ridley (Verline); 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

The funeral will be Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at 7 p.m. at the New Beginnings Fellowship Church, located 5653 Waterlevel Highway in Cleveland, with the Rev. Josh Taylor officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday prior to the service.

Interment will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Cedar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with the grandsons serving as pallbearers. The funeral procession will leave New Beginnings Church at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
