Norma Ruth Pruitt, 84, a resident of Birmingham, Ala., and formerly of Cleveland, died Sunday morning, Jan. 22, 2012, in an Alabama health care facility.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Robert J. Pruitt, former general overseer of The Church of God; son, Dennis Neal Pruitt; and daughter Janice C. Pruitt.

She was a former member of The Church of God at Zion Hill in Cleveland, but more recently she attended The Pinson Parkway Church of God of Prophecy of Pinson, Ala., where her son pastors.

She loved to cook and entertain in her home because she loved people and was a friend to many.

Survivors include two sons: the Rev. Phil Pruitt of Birmingham and Teryl Pruitt of Cordova Md.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at The Church of God at Zion Hill with the Revs. Robert J. Hawkins Jr., David Risch and Kevin Werkheiser officiating.

Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at the North Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes.

The body may be viewed from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at The Church of God at Zion Hill.
