Library Corner: Teen Spirit Week begins on Tuesday — wear your colors

Teen Spirit Week begins Tuesday. Wear your school colors as we pay tribute to the late John Hughes, who captured the spirit of the ’80s young adult. Join us in the Teen Zone, YA area, for “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” (PG-13) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday to kick off Spirit Week activities.

Receive 50 percent off your drinks at Lasaters Coffee if you wear your school colors, show a school ID and library card during Spirit Week.

Additional activities for Spirit Week are: Feb. 2, “Say Anything” (PG-13) will be shown at 4:30 p.m. in the Teen Zone; Feb. 3, the CHS Dance Team will shake it out, get crazy and make everyone want to dance in celebration of Spirit Week in the Community Room at 4:30 p.m. and “Some Kind of Wonderful” (PG-13) will be playing in the Community Room at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 4 to complete the week.

Classic Comedy Movie Night will be showing the Marx Brothers, “Duck Soup” on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Cleveland Bradley Community Room.

Booklets are free and available on a first come basis.

The following computer classes are available for registration at the Non-Fiction Desk located on the second floor of the library. There is a $5 refundable deposit required to register for classes and workshops along with a valid library card.

Basic Computers: Jan. 30 and Feb. 1, 10 a.m. until noon; Feb. 16 and 23, 6 until 8 p.m.; Basic Email: Feb. 6 and 8, 10 a.m. until noon; Excel: Feb. 20, 21, 22 and 23, 3 until 5 p.m.; Basic Internet: Jan. 31 and Feb. 2, 3 until 5 p.m.; Feb. 27 and 29, 10 a.m. until noon; Internet Safety for Parents, one session, Feb. 2 or Feb. 9, 6 until 8 p.m.; Job Hunting Online: Feb. 7 and 9, 3 until 5 p.m.; PowerPoint: Feb. 14 and 16, 3 to 5 p.m.; Word: Feb. 13 and 15, 10 a.m. until noon.
