Tuesday, April 24, The Greater Cleveland Community Band will do just that — tell a musical story with pictures.
The spring event is “April 1865, One National, Under God” and will commemorate the end of the Civil War, celebrate Abraham Lincoln’s legacy, and honor those who served from Bradley County and Cleveland.
Cleveland and Bradley County did not declare a side during the war. Instead families were torn and brothers fought brothers. It was a difficult time for our area.
The Greater Cleveland Community Band will utilize video screens to help set the mood of the program. That is where the band needs your help. If you have photographs from the Civil War era that organizers could use please contact gccbands@gmail.com to let them know that you would be willing to share these photographs.
They would be scanned in and returned immediately to you.
If you do not have computer access, please call Nancy Casson at 473-1114.
Music presented during this event will be representational of the North and the South. “Three Southern Vignettes” by Hickeby and “Voices from the Battlefield” by Sheldon are just two of the selections to be presented.
