A native of Berea, Ky., he was a son of the late Andy and Laura Howard Huff. He was also preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
He was a member of Eastanallee Baptist Church for 35 years, where he served as an usher for many years. He was a Mason, and was associated with Kruger Construction Co. in Dayton, Ohio, for 31 years as a heavy equipment operator, until his retirement. He served in the US Army during WWII where he participated in the Normandy Invasion (Utah Beach).
He is survived by his wife, Ruth B. Huff of Cleveland; several grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at Eastanallee Baptist Church with the Revs. Ralph Jenkins and Oran Creasman officiating,.
The body will lie in repose at the church for one hour before the service.
Interment will follow in Eastanallee Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Smith Funeral & Cremation Services of Athens on Monday, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Howard Belcher, Tony Shouse, Jeff Ingram, Cory Mantooth, Tyler Adams and Jason Burch. Honorary pallbearers will be Senior Adult Men’s Sunday school class at Eastanallee Baptist Church.
