The Red Shoe Gala is expected to be CASA’s largest fundraiser of the year and organizers have been working hard to make sure the event is a memorable one.
“The red shoe theme represents Dorothy’s shoes in the ‘Wizard of Oz’ and their role in the journey to find her home. The mission of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is to find safe, permanent homes for children in need by training and supporting community volunteers,” according to Suzanne Wisdom, director of CASA.
Donations help to continue recruiting, training and supervising the volunteers, who advocate for the best interests of children who come to the attention of the Bradley County court system due to abuse or neglect.
This year’s Red Shoe Party will begin at 6 p.m. at the Old Woolen Mill. The fundraiser will feature a silent auction, live music early and a DJ later, a cash bar, and food provided by Al-Shabibi Catering. The event emcee will be Cleveland City Schools Director Dr. Martin Ringstaff.
Keeping with the red shoe theme, attendees are encouraged to wear red shoes to the event, and the best red shoes of the evening in several categories will be selected by fun local personalities in the annual Red Shoe Contest.
“We expect the Red Shoe Gala will be a fun night and a great way for the community to show support for CASA,” said Wisdom. “We can make a real difference in the lives of children at risk, and statistics show that children who have access to a special advocate are less likely to languish in long-term care and more likely to receive the services they need to thrive in a safe, permanent home.”
Categories for the Red Shoe contest include; Sassiest; Funniest; Most Original, and Most Daring, according to Wisdom.
