Cleveland police took a man into custody early this morning after he had barricaded himself in his home with a handgun.

Cleveland police were dispatched to 2814 Blackburn Road just after 2 a.m. after a 911 hangup. The officers’ report claims they encountered the alleged victim, Sherry Wilson, at the back door of the resident. She said she had been assaulted by her boyfriend, who then fired a weapon in the home.

Wilson said the suspect, Brian Wilke, stated he would shoot officers if they entered the house. Wilson was taken to safety and the SWAT team created a perimeter around the home.

A bomb robot was then used to enter the home where it came into contact with the suspect. Once Wilke’s location was determined, officers entered the home and took the suspect into custody.

Wilke was transported to the Bradley County Justice Center where he is charged with assault and weapon violations. The Cleveland Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident.
