The 4-H Clubs are looking for 4-H members who want to participate in the 4-H poultry project by raising a group of 12 baby chicks furnished by Polk County Extension. In the poultry project the 4-Her receives 12 baby chicks and the responsibility for growing and returning three grown pullets to the poultry show and sale. The 4-Her will receive the chicks in early April and the sale will be held during the County Fair. Prize money and awards will be given at the sale and money raised will be used for next year’s 4-H project. Any 4-Her who would like to apply for the baby chicks needs to fill out a 4-H Club Chick project application and return it to the 4-H office by Feb. 28. This year a $30 deposit is needed with the application. The deposit will be returned to the 4-H member at the fall show. If you have any questions concerning the poultry project, call the 4-H office at 338-4503. Ivie Wilson and Eli Hicks were participants in last year’s project.
