Bonnie D. Lawson, 91, a resident of Cleveland and formerly of Georgetown, passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, in a local health care facility.

She was a member of Georgetown Baptist Church.

She was a graduate of Bradley Central High School, class of 1939. She worked on the Manhattan Project during World War II and was a seamstress at American Uniform for 25 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Levi and Cleo Randolph Hicks; her husband, N.L. Lawson; three brothers: Roy Hicks, Clyde Hicks and James Hicks who was killed in action in World War II and one sister, Helen Hicks; sister-in-law, Lou Hicks and brother-in-law, Charles Hyde.

She is survived by two sisters; Wilma M. Hicks and Betty J. Hyde, both of Cleveland; two special nieces: Terri Ricketts and her husband, Ron, and Cindy Smith and her husband, Raymond, all of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; two great-great-nephews; sister-in-law, Nora Belle Newell of Birchwood; and brother-in-law, Kermit Lawson of Athens.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Earl Farris officiating.

Interment will follow in the Cofer Cemetery.

A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
